\u25cf In almost all cases the instrument runs in Input mode.
(Accelerometer and gyro sensors can only work in Input mode.)
Input mode means: the instrument records the raw voltage curve from the sensor and treats it as the travel curve; the curve itself carries no length information. We simply assign the manufacturer-specified travel length to the difference between the curve\u2019s start and end points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25cf Measurement mode is used only in rare cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2714 Linear sensor + Measurement mode: you must enter the sensor\u2019s electrical length. During breaker operation the wiper moves with the mechanism, so the sensor acts as a calibrated ruler. The instrument converts the wiper voltage into exact travel values to build the stroke curve. (Therefore the sensor must be rigidly fixed\u2014any wobble will make the recorded travel unstable.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
